I-75 Death In Three Car Crash

NAPLES, FL. -- Elisabeth Tanjeloff, 64 of Sarasota, FL died in a crash today on I-75 near mile marker 64. The crash closed the interstate for hours as investigations were held.

Tanjeloff in a 2007 Nissan was traveling eastbound on I75 as 2013 Kia and 2012 Chevy truck towing an empty boat trailer were traveling westbound on I75. Tanjeloff lost control and began swerving within the eastbound lanes, then crossed the grass median and entered the westbound lanes.

As a result the front of the Kia struck her within the eastbound lanes, the front of the truck then struck the rear of the Kia. The Kia and the truck then veered into the north side grass shoulder and struck a chain-link fence.

The truck came to final rest on its right side facing west only after it struck and broke a power pole located within the north grass shoulder. The Kia came to final rest upright resting against the chain link fence.

Tanjeloff's vehicle came to final rest within the center of the westbound lanes. She was pronounced deceased on scene, the driver of the Kia, Kelsey Cardenal, 20 of Boca Raton, FL and passenger Aaron Gould, 22 of Boca Raton, FL were both med flighted to Lee Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the truck, Sean Doyle, 24 of Coconut Creek, FL was taken to Naples Community Hospital with serious injuries.

Westbound traffic was closed at I75 and US 27 due to the extent of the crash scene and due to the close proximity of the unstable power pole and power lines. The westbound lanes were reopened at 3:10 pm.
