Planned Parenthood Investigated For Baby Body Part Selling Allegations?

Governor Rick Scott announced today that he has asked the Agency for Health Care Administration to immediately begin investigating the 16 Planned Parenthood offices in Florida that perform abortion procedures to ensure they are in full compliance with the law.

Governor Rick Scott said, “The videos coming out about Planned Parenthood are deeply troubling to say the least. It is against the law for any organization to sell body parts. I asked AHCA Secretary Liz Dudek to begin immediately dispatching staff from their licensure office to evaluate the 16 Planned Parenthood offices in Florida that perform abortion procedures to ensure they are in full compliance with the law.

"If a Planned Parenthood office is not following the law, we will move quickly to take legal and regulatory action against them. We hold our healthcare organizations in Florida to the highest standards of safety and we expect them to fully comply with the law at all times.”

'Home' Business Plans $300 Million Fuel Facility Investment Says Governor

Will This Distribution Project Ever Get Off The Ground?

LABELLE, FL, -- Florida Governor Rick Scott announced this week that a company named Florida Fuel Connection will establish a petroleum product logistics and distribution facility in Hendry County, near the city of LaBelle.

The Hendry County and other proposed South Florida facilities will receive and distribute petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel according to the company and Scott.

A quick search for the history of the CEO and the company turned up some interesting facts that may lead to some uncertainty.

According to Florida Secretary of State corporate records Florida Fuel Connection LLC is owned by Armbrust Aviation Group, Inc. of Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. which is in turn owned by John and Pauline Armbrust.  The couple also owned Aviation Fuel Associates, Inc. until it went out of business in 2007.

The Armbrust's operate the company out of their home at 8340 Steeplechase Drive in Palm Beach County.

John H. Armbrust, CEO of Florida Fuel Connections LLC, last year changed his mind about investing in a Fort Pierce fuels distribution facility and said he was not going to St. Lucie County because of government officials’ reluctance to dredge the port to make it deeper. He then turned his attention towards pitching officials at the Port of Jacksonville.

Florida Fuel Connections on it webpage says it is supported by "strategic infrastructure partners - CSX Corporation TRansportation and South Central Florida Express, Inc."

South Central Florida Express is a short line railroad operated by U.S. Sugar and has Clewiston officers including Malcom Wade, Kenneth McDuffie, and Elaine Wood.

Louisiana state officials and Armbrust also this week claims Florida Fuel Connection LLC will make a $75 million capital investment to build a petroleum terminal and rail transportation facility in East Feliciana Parish, near the Mississippi River. That project is said to create 50 new jobs at an average annual salary of $70,000.

Governor Scott said about the LaBelle proposed project, “We are excited to announce that Florida Fuel Connection has chosen Hendry County as the best place to launch their business and create new jobs. Over the past four years, we have worked hard to create a pro-business environment that encourages growth and innovation so companies like Florida Fuel Connection can succeed. We will keep working to make Florida the number one state in the nation for businesses to grow and create jobs for our families.”

Scott said the project will create nearly 300 construction jobs over a 14 month period and 50 full-time jobs, with a capital investment of more than $300 million. FFC projects to add a second facility in South Florida in 2017.

“Florida’s rail infrastructure, unique location and pro-business climate made it a strong candidate for this project,” said John H. Armbrust, CEO of Florida Fuel Connection. “We used a comprehensive process to determine the most efficient, cost effective, safe and reliable infrastructure system to meet the expectations of Florida’s petroleum product suppliers and end-users. The Hendry and South Florida locations provide us with the necessary resources to build these logistics facilities, and will allow us to meet customer fuel demands more efficiently and safely than ever before.”

Art Bell Midnight In The Desert Starts Tonight

Art Bell, legendary late night radio broadcaster jump started his latest venture last night at midnight, taking calls from listeners around the world for his Midnight In The Desert radio show.

It's clear Bell, after last nights "test" broadcast, still has lots of loyal fans notwithstanding some glitches hampering last night's show as apparent buffering of the digital internet signal left parts of the show unintelligible for brief periods, causing Bell to terminate the test show early after 2 1/2 hours.

The official start of the broadcast is tonight and fans can hear him week nights from midnight until 3 a.m. (eastern time). Bell broadcasts from his home studio in the high desert of Nevada and is expected to continue talking with guests and callers about paranormal and science topics via internet streaming and some AM, FM, and short wave radio broadcast stations.

Bell departed the popular overnight radio show (which he created and hosted,) Coast To Coast AM in 2003 and ten years later joined satellite broadcaster Sirius XM but quit after six weeks.

The new Art Bell show will be streamed live on the internet through Dark Matter Digital Network with an option for listeners to subscribe monthly. Additionally some AM, FM and shortwave radio stations have signed on to simulcast the live show as well, all agreeing to pay music fees to copyright owners if they air the show and to expect a free-form show with station breaks at Bell's choosing.

AutoNation 'Fired" By TrueCar

Possible Hidden Auto Sales To Avoid Paying Referral Fees?
TrueCar, Inc.  a negotiation-free car buying and selling auto and truck marketplace, is ending its longstanding partnership with AutoNation Inc., effective at the end of July according to TrueCar.

TrueCar says AutoNation, the nation's largest auto sales dealership is refusing to release car sales information under it's contractual agreement, while AutoNation counters that it doesn't wish to release all of it's sales data to TrueCar.

TrueCar, with agreements with over a third of all auto dealerships in the U.S. promises consumers transparency of auto dealer pricing by tracking what buyers paid through  transaction data from it's more than 10,000 TrueCar Certified Dealers.

Users of the buying service include USAA, American Express, Consumer Reports, AARP and direct automobile and truck customers.

TrueCar says it's certified dealers abide by certain core principles including negotiation-free, guaranteed savings off MSRP for all vehicles. in a professional and hassle-free customer experience.

In May, TrueCar formally demanded that AutoNation comply fully with these core principles in order to have continued access to the TrueCar platform. AutoNation chose not to comply and the business relationship between the companies will be terminated effective July 31, said TrueCar.

TrueCar estimates that users of it's service were 7 percent of AutoNation's first quarter 2015 new vehicle sales, up from 6 percent in the first quarter of 2014. Reportedly though AutoNation showed a lesser percentage of referrals through TrueCar, leading some to believe AutoNation may be under reporting actual TrueCar sales thus avoiding a $299 fee owed per new car sale to TrueCar.

AutoNation had 279 active franchise dealers using the TrueCar platform at the end of the first quarter, or 3.1 percent of total active franchise dealers on the TrueCar platform on that date.

"Although we would have preferred that AutoNation abide by our marketplace principles, just like our other Certified Dealer partners, we are prepared for this development," said John Krafcik, TrueCar's president. "We are gratified that more than 10,000 dealers share our view of a better, more transparent car-buying process. Our robust dealer network ensures that in markets where AutoNation competes, other TrueCar Certified Dealers will receive the benefit of even greater engagement with TrueCar customers."

A look at TrueCar's website indicates this week many AutoNation dealerships are no longer appearing on the TrueCar list of certified dealers.

Have any experiences with buying at an AutoNation dealer in the last seven years using TrueCar guaranteed prices? Add your comments below.
