Emergency Operations In Hendry/Glades

Hendry county has this afternoon declared the county to be under emergency rules due to the possibility of damage from the hurricane which tonight is still approaching the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean, at least four days from Florida.

The National Hurricane Center's latest predictions for the Hendry/Glades county area indicates at this time the odds are low for hurricane force winds, stating probabilities at 40% chance of 39mph winds, 10% of 58mph winds and, 0% of 74mph winds. The center has not issued any warnings or watches at this time for SW Florida.

On Friday morning WAFC FM and AM radio in Clewiston will have a Hurricane Special just after 8 am with a panel of guests including Brian Newhouse, Hendry County Emergency Management; Charles Chapman, Hendry County Administrator; Sean Scheffler, City of Clewiston; and more in the studio addressing hurricane concerns.
