John Hollingworth, 77 of LaBelle, in a 2007 Ford Escape was westbound on State Road 80 (Hickpochee Avenue), in the outside lane. Nicholas Allen Todd, 33 of Hendry countySheriff's Department was traveling northbound on Bridge Street in a 2016 Ford Taurus with it's lights and sirens activated at 2:27 p.m. Tuesday
Several westbound vehicles in both the inside and (left) turn lane obstructed the view of
westbound motorists. Hollingworth then observed a solid green indication coming from the traffic
device (signal) and proceeded west into the intersection.
As a result, the right front of the Taurus collided with the left front of the Escape at the intersection. Upon impact with the Escape, the Taurus was propelled in a counterclockwise direction and came to rest at the intersection.
The Escape came to rest partially in the westbound (outside) lane of State Road 80 and southbound lane of State Road 29. There were no injuries and no charges filed.
