MOORE HAVEN, FL. -- Joseu Mancia Padilla, 28 of Clewiston was traveling north on West Ave SW in the center of the road at 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning in a 2003 Honda. Sgt. T. Neives, 35, of Moore Haven in a 2016 Ford Explorer was responding to the area based on a report of suspicious activity involving the 2003 Honda.
As Sgt. Neives turned onto West Ave SW from US 27, he observed Padilla was traveling in the center of the road. Sgt. Neives attempted evasive action but the front of the Honda struck the front of the patrol vehicle. After the impact the Honda came to final rest on the west shoulder and the patrol vehicle came to final rest on the east shoulder.
Padilla was charged with DUI Property Damage / Injury, No Valid Driver License.
