COVID-19 Still Lingering In Hendry County, Florida Now Affecting Schools

 

LABELLE, FL. -- COVID-19 cases have not gone away in rural Hendry County, Florida. Since March 1st there have been 2,327 positive cases identified in the population of 42,380 or about 5% of the population. 310 were pediatric cases.

A total of 372 people tested positive were admitted to the emergency room, and 44 have died.

In the Hendry County School District, 250 students and 31 staff are under quarantine orders. Three LaBelle High School football games have been canceled so far.

The largest amount of students quarantined are from Clewiston Elementary School, at 65. LaBelle High has 51 students under quarantine, and LaBelle MIddle School with 39, and Clewiston High at 38 quarantined.
