LABELLE, FL. -- The number of Florida counties on the CDC's list of "low community level" for COVID-19 is increasing although transmission rates are at still at "high" or "substantial" levels around the state and country.
CDC's latest maps as of Thursday afternoon show most of Florida counties are at "low" levels along with a few at "medium" levels.
Hendry County is now at low levels after being at HIGH levels for seven weeks in a row previous months. Positivity rates were 2.3% in Hendry last week from 168 tests performed. Click for Hendry County data from CDC.
The CDC recommends for low level counties to wear a mask on public transportation. You may choose to wear a mask at any time as an additional precaution to protect yourself and others.
Counties in states surrounding Florida are generally a scattered mixture of low to medium community levels.
Community Transmission Substantial To High This Week In U.S.
In contrast, what the CDC calls the "Community Transmission" levels are rated "moderate" or "substantial" for more more than half of Florida counties, and 39% of the U.S. is at "high" level and 33% at "substantial." Hendry county is at "low" and Glades at "substantial." Charlotte and Collier are at "substantial," Lee at "substantial." High Transmission Level is defined as new cases per 100,000 persons in the past 7 days of 100 or more OR Percentage of positive NAATs tests during the past 7 day at 10% or more.
