Jimmy Randall Roberts, Jr. Arrested For Homicide

The exhaustive criminal investigation remains ongoing regarding the 5/25/24 tragic crash on State Road 82, Lee County.

UPDATE 5/31/24

 

On 5/31/24, Driver 1 (Jimmy Randall Roberts Jr., DOB 1/6/1990 of Moorehaven) was released from Gulf Coast Medical Center.

On 5/31/24, the Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit placed Roberts Jr.  under arrest for the below mentioned criminal charges and booked him into the Lee County Jail:

 

• Vehicular Homicide – (2 Counts)
• Reckless Driving with Serious Injuries (3 Counts)
• Driving While License Suspended / Revoked (causing death)
• DWLSR - Habitual Traffic Offender
• Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm

SUV / Sedan crash on 5/25/24 on State Road 82, Lee County. One passenger of SUV pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the SUV and three other passengers sustained injuries and were transported to an area hospital. The driver of the sedan sustained critical injuries, was transported to an area hospital, and later pronounced deceased. The crash remains under investigation.

From the FHP crash report:

Vehicle 1 (SUV) was traveling west on the center lane of State Road 82 at a high rate of speed, approaching the intersection with Sunshine Boulevard.

Vehicle 2 (Sedan) was traveling east on the left turn lane of State Road 82, approaching the intersection with Sunshine Boulevard.

Vehicle 2 turned left at the intersection, in front of the approaching Vehicle 1.

The front of Vehicle 1 collided with the right side of Vehicle 2.

Vehicle 1 / Passenger 1 was pronounced deceased on the scene of the crash.

Driver 1 and three other male passengers in Vehicle 1 sustained critical injuries, and were transported to an area hospital.

Driver 2 sustained critical injuries, was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced deceased.

The crash remains under investigation.
