Bishop Richard Johnson Dies At 82

Bishop Richard Lynn Johnston, age 82, of North Fort Myers. FL passed away at Gulf Coast Medical Center on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Richard was born on April 8, 1942. In Montcalm, West Virginia to the late Rev. William Belcher and the late Una Johnston. Richard was a master electrician before he received the call to become a Minister of the Gospel. Richard Married Brenda Watkins on July 12, 1960, in Tazewell, Virginia, she survives him. Richard enjoyed riding his motorcycle, cheering on the Rays, but most of all he loved preaching the word of God. Richard was a loving and caring man who will be dearly missed by his entire family and church family.

Richard leaves fond memories with his loving wife of 64 years, Brenda Johnston of North Fort Myers, FL, his sons; Richard Lynn Johnston Jr and his companion Candice Jones of Fort Myers, Russell Allen Johnston and his wife Tanya of Fort Myers, brother Billy Belcher and his wife Cheryl of West Virginia, sister Gloria Belcher, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his sisters; Selma Palmer, Sue Belcher, and his granddaughter Teresa Johnston.

Richard’s life was celebrated with a visitation being held on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at the LaBelle Church of God located at 520 East Hickpochee Avenue, LaBelle, Florida 33935, where the funeral service celebrating his life was held Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. also, at the LaBelle Church of God. Burial is in Fort Denaud Cemetery in LaBelle, Florida.
