LABELLE, FL. -- Recently resigned Hendry County Manager Lester Baird has applied for the position of city manager of Brooksville, Florida. Brooksville, a small town near Tampa will hold interviews among three remaining candidates and town officials on Monday.
Former Brooksville city council member Ernie Weaver told a local reporter that the city's top pick is Baird because he has Florida government experience and can bring a fresh perspective to the job.
Baird is up against Susan Boyer, former city manager for nearby Crystal River and former city manager of Lady Lake, and Jennene Norman-Vacha, former deputy city manager of Brooksville and former human resources director for Hernando County. Baird has also been city manager of the cities of Belle Glade and South Bay.
