Hendry Deputy Arrested On DUI After Let Go First

Professional Courtesy Didn't Work This Time - Busted!

LABELLE, FL. -- 40-year old Hendry Sheriff's Deputy Timothy John Neidert apparently had his luck run out when he was stopped about 3:15 a.m. Thursday July 1 after driving erratically in Lee County near the Gateway community.

Reportedly, after being stopped by a Lee County deputy, the traffic stop was called in to the Lee Deputy's supervisor for advice after stopping Neidert, an off-duty Hendry deputy. The Lee County Sergeant came to the scene. A call was then made to the Hendry County Sheriff's office, where Neidert's Sergeant was to arrange to pick up Neidert and drive him to Neibert's home in Fort Myers.

The Lee county deputies then left the scene. But, Neidert didn't wait for his Sergeant to pick him up, and drove away, leaving the scene of the traffic stop.

Stopped again after a citizen reported erratic driving, he was arrested at 3:29 a.m. He bonded out of Lee County jail at 6:07 a.m. Deputy Neidert is charged with a misdemeanor traffic offense of DUI Alcohol Or Drugs, his 1st Offense. Hendry Sheriff Whidden's office reports Neidert has been place on administrative leave with pay.

Hendry Sheriff Whidden released a statement saying: ''Hendy County Sheriff Deputy Timothy Neidert was arrested by Lee County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 on charges of DUI. Deputy Neidert was hired by Hendry County Sheriff's Office June 2006 and has been placed on Administrative Leave with pay.

We regret the actions taken by Deputy Neidert and will be conducting an internal affairs investigation into any department policy violations.''

The Lee County Sergeant who failed to arrest Neidert at the first stop has been placed on administrative leave by the Lee County Sheriff's office.

How the hell did he bond out at 6:07 AM? He was arrested at 3:29 AM. What, you all have special laws and rules for Law Enforcement Officers?? This must be looked into. I thought that you had to sit in Jail for 8 hours? In addition, they called a supervisor and so on…,were they going to cover it up? Bravo to the officers who did have the courage to do the right thing and arrest him.

To answer your question, yes HCSO was going to cover it up. The Sergeant who called to pick Niedert up was actually a Lieutenant who is known for coving up crimes committed by officers frequently, including DUI. If she likes them enough that is. Special rules for officers, yeah I'd say that's obvious. There is a much bigger story here if anyone was inclined to look.

Well so he resigned now? Okay, lets see if Whidden is smart enough or has enough b*lls left to initiate/continue an internal investigation as to WHY this Lieutenant KEEPS screwing up royally, (these two DUI situations are not the only thing she is alegedly guilty of) and continues to serve in this position as a SUPERVISOR and EXAMPLE to the rest of the peers and subordinates.

Why does she have so much power? Ah could be the tales of a special interest favor to both Whidden AND Nelson are true? What about the new female K9 officer? Same situation!

A REAL Agency would initiate an IA in a heartbeat if anything occurs that alleges misconduct whether policy wise or criminally or both. Of course Whidden would not know this nor would Nelson because both are pedagogically impaired and neither have the experience to pass on or do the right thing. Ironically in these situations most people can at least SENSE the difference between right or wrong. Whidden and Nelson cannot. It is beyond their capability.

You cannot condemn the monkey when he is being supervised and controlled by monkeys.

First, regardless of your obvious bias against HCSO, I agree...the speed at which Niedert was bonded out is worthy of investigation.

Your continued personal attacks at the HC Sheriff and Chief do little to bolster your argument, however. In my eyes, neither are, as you so put it 'pedagogically impaired', rather they're both pretty up-front and clear folks. And yes, I've known both for years, so my commentary is not at all naive.

I question your underlying intentions...what is it about the Sheriff and Chief that has your panties in such a twist?

As for the LT, she's professional and capable, again - in my opinion.

And before you ask, I'm not an LEO and never have been...I'm a citizen and one that's happy that *this* particular SO administration is in place. I think they're doing a pretty damned good job.
