Free Activities For The Family
LABELLE, FL. -- Okaloacoochee Slough State Forest in Hendry county celebrates Forest Awareness Month on Saturday, October 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities scheduled for both adults and kids:
Learn about wildland firefighting and see some of the equipment used
See some of the invasive exotic plants on the forest
Learn about some of the endangered plants found on the forest.
Geocaching course
Tree drawing
CFA station
Old time forestry equipment
Guided tours of the forest by van
OK Slough State Forest Field Office, 6265 CR 832 Felda, FL 863-612-0776. Directions from Fort Myers take 80 east through Labelle to SR 29, go south to CR 832, turn east, will be approximately 4 miles down on the south side of the road, look for the fire tower, or take 82 east to SR 29, go north to CR 832.
