LABELLE, FL. -- On July 4, 2015, the Healthier Hendry Glades Task Force hosted the first Healthier Hendry-Glades 5K-Run/Walk. The first place winner was Pedro Colmenares and his 11-year old son Jose Salgado came in second place. Brian Prowant, Environmental Health Manager for the Florida Department of Health Hendry/Glades came in third place.
The event started and finished at the LYDA Park across the street from the Hendry County Health Department on Pratt Blvd. off Cowboy Way at 7:30 am. There were about 60 participants registered. Winners were recognized by age categories male and female ranging from 10 years old up to folks in their 70's,
All proceeds will be donated to the Zac Reyna Park & Playground and the ACT (Abuse Counseling Treatment Center).
More festivities will be at LaBelle's Barron Park along the Caloosahatchee River beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday with food and games and fireworks at the river at 9 p.m.
