LABELLE, FL. -- Ascencion Rodriguez, 32 in a Kia Optima and Yomayri Gomez, 32 in a Toyota Sequoia both of LaBelle were traveling north on SR-29 at Wilson Rd in Hendry county at 9:25 p.m. Saturday. Rodriguez was directly behind Gomez.as Rodriguez rear-ended the Toyota. As a result, it traveled into the grass shoulder
and struck a utility pole.
Rodriguez then crossed the centerline and struck a 3rd vehicle which was traveling south on SR-29. Rodriguez had one infant passenger, transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with a minor injury.
The Toyota had a total of 4 minor passengers. One of the minor passengers, a 11 month old infant, was ejected and transported to Tampa General currently listed in serious but stable condition.
Vehicle 3 had a total of 3 minor passengers and one adult passengers. One of the minor passengers in vehicle 3 was transported to Hendry Regional. Crash remains under investigation, charges pending.
The FHP says Rodriguez was alcohol impaired and not wearing a seat belt. He was seriously injured and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.
