James A "Butch" Smelley, Jr, age 71, of Moore Haven, passed away October 12, 2019 in Clewiston.
He was born May 13, 1948 in Birmingham, AL, to the late James A and Nettie (Srofe) Smelley, Sr. He worked as a diesel mechanic for many years, retiring from that in 2010. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Moose Lodge, Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on diesel engines, mowing lawns, and spending time with his family and close friends. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Butch leaves behind his loving family; mother; Nettie Smelley, children; James A. Smelley, III and his wife Anna of New Smyrna Beach, David Lee Smelley and his wife Tammie of Moore Haven, Florida, Crystal Miller and her husband Jonathan of Sylvania, Alabama, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, three brothers; David Smelley, Randy Smelley and Wayne Smelley, four sisters; Cille, Opal Mae, Cheryl and Becky. Butch also leaves behind his longtime companion; Elizabeth Dotson of Moore Haven.
Celebration of Butch's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Akin-Davis Funeral Home where visitation will be one hour before the service. Military rites will be accorded by the United States Army.
Lindsey Taylor, age 32, of LaBelle, passed away October 13, 2019 in LaBelle.
She was born Oct. 22, 1986 in Fort Myers, FL, to Phillip Taylor and Mona (White) Tanner.
Survivors include: Father Phillip Taylor
Mother Mona (White) Tanner and Step Father Bruce Tanner
three brothers: Philip Taylor, Bruce Tanner Jr and Justin Ray Taylor
two sisters: Meagan Tanner and Paige Taylor,

Michael E Whitehead, age 52, of Clewiston, passed away October 9, 2019 in LaBelle.
He was born Nov. 18, 1966 in Rock Island, IL, to the late Aubrey Lee and Foye Judy Anne (Carpenter) Whitehead.
He owned a Landscaping Company.
Survivors include his wife: Jennifer (Holland) Whitehead
son: Daniel Whitehead of Clewiston, FL
five brothers: Wayne Whitehead, Paul Whitehead, Kenneth Whitehead, Robert Whitehead and Carl Whitehead

Gladys Berenics, age 90, of LaBelle, passed away October 7, 2019 in Lake Placid.
She was born May 26, 1929 in Puerto Rico to the late Jose Ramon and Virginia (Rios) Roman.
She was a Homemaker.

Family and friends are celebrating the life of Annie Ruth Parker Howard, age 90, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2019, in Lake Placid, Florida.
Born January 31, 1929, in Hilolo, Florida, Annie Ruth was a long-time resident of LaBelle, Florida, where she was a Hendry County school teacher for 35 years.
Annie Ruth was a graduate of LaBelle High School and Florida State University. She enjoyed concert bands as well as gospel music, supporting youth programs, fresh Florida seafood, attending festivals and cultural events, traveling with family, spending summers on Lake June, bringing together friends and church members for cookouts, playing card games. and opening her home to friends and family. She enjoyed telling and sharing stories about family and old Florida, having lived in Everglades City, Naples, Fort Myers, LaBelle, Alva, Lakeland, Tallahassee, and Lake Placid.
Annie Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Walter Robert Howard, Sr. of LaBelle. She will be fondly remembered by her children Judy Stockman (Dave), Walter Robert "Bob" Howard, Jr (Carol), and Kim Dykes (Mike), 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brother Horace T. "Bud" Parker Jr (Joanne) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Annie Ruth's celebration was held 11am Wednesday, October 9 at First Baptist Church of LaBelle. Visitation was held 5-7pm Tuesday, October 8 at Akin-Davis Funeral Home in LaBelle. Burial took place 12:30pm Thursday, October 10 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
In Lieu of flowers, donations were made to First Baptist Church of LaBelle Fidelis Scholarship Fund.

Don H Baker, age 62, of LaBelle, passed away October 4, 2019 in Lehigh Acres.
He was born Aug. 6, 1957 in Vero Beach, FL, to the late James Douglas and Betty (Beall) Baker.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked as an Irrigation Technician.
Survivors include his wife: Nikki (Borgia) Baker, two daughters: Elizabeth Joyce Baker and Jessica Dawn Baker, one sister: Deborah Baker Nysewander
