CLEWISTON, FL. -- The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Division filed a felony warrant for Byron Lee Billie, DOB 12/30/87, of Clewiston, for leaving the scene of a crash involving death on March 24, 2024.
On July 8, 2024, Billie turned himself in and booked him into the Collier County Jail.

Last night (3/27/24), after an exhaustive investigative search, the Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit located and impounded the suspected fatal hit and run Chevrolet Truck The truck was located, partially concealed under a tarp, at a residence in Hendry County. The criminal investigation remains ongoing.
Hit and run pickup truck versus bicyclist crash on 3/24/24, on Oil Well Road, Collier County. Bicyclist sustained critical injuries, was transported to an area hospital, and later pronounced deceased. Post collision, the hit and run driver fled the scene in the pickup truck. The hit and run pickup truck was described as a newer model, white in color Chevrolet, with right front bumper damage.
