Hendry Sheriff Removes "Drug" Trailer

Drug Evidence Trailer Removed From Sheriff's Office

LABELLE, FL. -- Hendry Sheriff Steve Whidden moved a large semi-trailer from the Sheriff's office to the Sheriff's Gun Range after disposing of many years of no longer needed drug-related criminal evidence.

Chief Deputy Kevin Nelson said this trailer was seized from a marijuana grow house operation in 2006 and former Sheriff Ronnie Lee decided to use it for evidence storage.

When Sheriff Whidden came into office on January 5, 2009, the trailer contained evidence for over forty criminal cases. These court cases were primarily drug related, some containing 10-12 pieces of related evidence. These cases were already disposed of in court but still required complete inventory, recording, weighing and then court ordered destruction.

The process took Sheriff Whidden's office one and one-half years to complete.

The drug contraband was taken to the Lee County incinerator for disposal. The empty trailer has been relocated to the Sheriff's gun range where it will be used for non-drug related storage.

Over a year and a half to process this? Incredible. It does wonders knowing that one can complain on a local information forum and cause great things to finally happen. Otherwise it would have sat there for another term. That and constant prodding from County Administrator. But that spiffy new building sitting in the background probably is still empty and unequipped properly to house evidence.

But had to have that to get our 4000 sq foot pole barn custom built by the same vendor as that evidence building was for our house. That was over a year ago that was placed.

Now that this is done, more is on the way in the form of "things that need to be done" there is a huge laundry list so Whidden my boy, get ready.

As far as your mouthpieces in the smoke, Nelson and the rest, they are hoping this damage wont affect his outcome. He isnt running for Sheriff he says so dont worry. Wait, he said that the LAST time too. Only to decide at the last minute "due to pressure from his wife" to run. Or so he says.

Now he has several commitments he has to accomplish. It will be interesting to see who supports who in the coming election. Both party wise and community wise.

    He's so smart.

Whidden, you really should consider dropping from the democratic party. It associates you with less than "straight shooter" people. Your party has been taken over by socialist and dirtbag vice agenda pushers.

Funny because everything fell apart when the Democratic party hack vice worshipers took over congress in 2006. The economy was growing until then.
