LABELLE, FL. -- The Florida Department of Health in Hendry and Glades Counties is hosting a Free Family 5K Walk/Run event on Thursday, September 29th, 2016.
Race events will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. The walk/run will take place at LYDA Park which is across the street from the Health Department (Near the tennis courts off of Pratt Blvd)
All fitness levels are welcome. This free event is designed for the whole family to enjoy. Registration will occur between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. A healthy instructional “warm-up/stretching” will occur from 5:30 p.m. to 5:40 p.m.
Participants will receive a small “disaster preparedness backpack” filled with emergency supplies.(While supplies last)
The purpose of the event is to raise awareness about Florida’s Healthiest Weight Initiative and the benefits of maintaining a healthy weight through regular physical activity and how it helps keep our hearts healthy.
Additionally, September 29th is “World Heart Day” and educational materials will be provided to all participants.
