  1. The passing of a true gentleman and scholar.

Dr. Philip Stansly was an incredibly talented, relentless scientist and academic. The vast knowledge, experience, compassion and wisdom that leave our world with Phil is simply impossible to quantify. There is some solace to be clutched by remembering that Phil spent his life in partnerships with others, devoted to family, fascinated with exploring the intricacies of our amazing world, and dedicated to sharing his joy and his discoveries with others through fellowship, writings and teaching.

When contemplating such a loss of true human wealth we should remember that few men express their appreciation for God-given gifts as earnestly as did Phil. The witness of his thanks is found in his devotion to family and community. Those fortunate to have been mentored by Dr. Philip Stansly will be sobered by the loss and reinforced in their passion and commitment to the mission they shared with Phil - making ours a better world.

Those of us who knew Phil and are so moved by his passing can only imagine the emotions of his family. Our thoughts, prayers and sympathies go out to Silvia and the children.
