FORT MYERS, FL. --- Elizabeth McCamey, 35 of Lehigh Acres was parked in a parking space on the south side of the 7-Eleven located at 12750 S. Cleveland Avenue, Fort Myers, FL. and then exited the parking space in a GMC Yukon SUV and made a wide left turn, traveling towards the parking spaces located at the east side store front.
For unknown reasons, she accelerated and approached the store front, with the vehicle traveling over the store front curb / sidewalk and striking the store front with the front of the SUV which then traveled completely into the store.
Once inside the store, it struck pedestrian Spencer Thomas, 44 and Tahera Khanam, 53 and came to final rest facing west, in the vicinity of the inside back store wall.
The two shoppers were transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
McCamey was arrested for driving while license suspended/revoked 3rd or subsequent offense,
and traffic citation for careless driving.
