CDC Update On Novel Coronavirus

ATLANTA, GA. -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides an audio teleconference update to media on the COVID-19 response by Nancy Messonnier, M.D., Director, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. (Click to play audio)

As of Friday afternoon there were 76,798 confirmed cases reported, 99% were in mainland China and 16 cases in the U.S. While 634 are on the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan.

More than 780,000,000, or more than one-half the total population are under quarantine or travel restrictions in China, with the strictest measures in Hubei province, the epicenter of the outbreak. The population of China is 1,428,000,000.
