CLEWISTON, FL. -- Vehicle 01 (2019 Maserati Sedan) was actively fleeing from the Hendry County Sheriff`s Office and traveling southbound on C.R. 835 at a high rate of speed at 2:04 am Saturday.
As Vehicle 01 approached the intersection of Roberts Road, the vehicle entered into a sharp right-hand curve. The 19 year old male driver from Clewiston of Vehicle 01 failed to negotiate the curve and continued straight. Vehicle 01 traversed the southern shoulder of C.R. 835 to the edge of a large canal that paralleled the roadway.
Vehicle 01 became airborne, crossed the canal, and struck the southern embankment of the canal with the front of Vehicle 01. Vehicle 01 then fell into the canal and came to rest upright and facing southwest along the southern shore of the canal.
Both occupants of Vehicle 01 were pronounced deceased on scene by the Hendry County Sheriff`s Office. The passenger was a 17 year old female from Hialeah.
The Florida Highway Patrol's Advanced Investigation & Reconstruction (FLAIR) Unit continues to investigate this crash.
