Murder At Port LaBelle Inn

LABELLE, FL. -- A young male was an apparent murder victim at the Port LaBelle Inn this morning, presumably from a handgun bullet.

On scene were Hendry deputies and investigators, FDLE investigators, and a Glades County Deputy.

The hotel property is split between the Hendry and Glades County boundary line.

At 1 p.m. today a bare chested male was lying face up between two green ServPro trucks.

ServPro of Braun Station is a franchise commercial water clean up company from San Antonio TX in business for about 10 years in Texas.  A green pickup truck with Texas license plates was observed outside the crime scene possibly a ServPro supervisor or franchise representative.

One truck had it's panel door open. Dozens of evidence markers were on the ground in front of the trucks with a crime scene evidence camera aimed at the victim.

Shortly after 1 pm investigators enlarged the crime scene adding tape up to the hotel entrance area. Investigators were apparently still searching for a gun and were on the third floor of the hotel. Evidence bags were seen by neighbors being carried along Oxbow Drive earlier this morning.

Neighbors say a commotion was heard early this morning in the parking lot as hurricane disaster relief crews were loading up trucks. Six ServPro trucks were observed earlier this morning. Four apparently left leaving two, now on each side of the deceased man.

A neighbor across the street from the hotel says there was lots of noise this morning but didn't hear a shot.

The hotel hosts men from St. Matthews House undergoing drug and alcohol rehab. They reside on the third floor, and do chores around the hotel and grounds. The men and staff normally leave the hotel each morning around 8:30 a.m. to attend a program at 1st Baptist Church in LaBelle. This morning, they did not leave the hotel.

UPDATE: It is confirmed that an employee of ServPro of Braun Station, Vincent Keith Harris, 36 year old, described as 6'3" 206 lb. black male, of San Antonio, TX reportedly fled in a ServPro truck and has been arrested. He is charged with 1st Degree Pre-Meditated Murder. Also, confirmed is the white male victim was a ServPro employee and named as  29-year-old Messiah Devon Grier.
