Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested

Victim Stabbed 15 Times For $19

LABELLE, FL. -- On January 27, at 6:00 a.m., Hendry County Deputy Christian Buchhofer was dispatched to an area near the intersection of Kissimmee and Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. in LaBelle, to investigate a report of a man bleeding.  Deputy Buchhofer located 19-year-old Juan Cordiel lying on the sidewalk bleeding from what appeared to be several stab wounds. 

E.M.S. responded to the scene and transported Cordiel to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers where Hospital Staff determined he had been stabbed 15 times.   Sergeant Shawn Reed and Corporal Jesus Olvera located the suspects at 815 M.L.K., where the stabbing was reported to have occurred. 

Information obtained by the Deputies indicates that Clemente Mendoza Garcia, age 32, asked Cordiel for money, when Cordiel refused Garcia stabbed him with a knife and robbed him of $19.00.   Rosario Garza, age 23, was present when the incident occurred and gave false information to Deputies in an attempt to cover for Garcia.  Clemente Mendoza Garcia was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder and Tampering With Evidence.  Rosario Garza was charged with Obstruction, bond set at $5,000.00.  Garcia�s bond was set at $105,000.00
