Politicians, Kids, and Fun At Barron Park
LABELLE, FL. -- The annual Fourth of July celebrations took place Friday evening as the cardboard raft race started off the festivities as usual. The "boat" crew from the Florida Community Bank took the soggy top honors this year.
The Greater LaBelle Chamber of Commerce served tasty food, while local political candidates furnished cupcakes for festival goers. Phil Pelletier served as master of ceremonies for the contest awards and had fun with a hoola hoop contest for the kids.
Honored tonight were two fallen soldiers from LaBelle; Chief Warrant Officer Robert Charles Hammett, killed in Iraq June 24 and USMC Staff Sgt. Christopher Strickland killed in Afghanistan June 25.
