Philip A Stansly, Ph.D. age 74, of LaBelle, passed away September 12, 2018 in Fort Myers. Dr. Stansly Professor of Entomology served the agricultural industry as a member of the UF/IFAS SWFREC team for 32 years.
He was born May 5, 1944, to Philip G and Marguerite (Anzolut) Stansly. Mr. Stansly married Silvia Linares; she survives. Philip was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. He was an Entomologist for the University of Florida for over 30 years.
Philip leaves behind his loving wife: Silvia Stansly, two sons: Theodor L Stansly and Philip Kipling Stansly, and two daughters: Kasandra S Gallegos and husband Rudy, Gallegos, Jr and Anna M Stansly, one sister: Pamela Jane Bell, granddaughter; Aria Stansly Gallegos, niece; Annelise Belle.
Funeral liturgy will be held Monday, September 17, 2018, at 7:00 pm at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, LaBelle. Visitation will be Monday from 6-7 pm at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, LaBelle, FL.

ReplyDeleteDr. Philip Stansly was an incredibly talented, relentless scientist and academic. The vast knowledge, experience, compassion and wisdom that leave our world with Phil is simply impossible to quantify. There is some solace to be clutched by remembering that Phil spent his life in partnerships with others, devoted to family, fascinated with exploring the intricacies of our amazing world, and dedicated to sharing his joy and his discoveries with others through fellowship, writings and teaching.
When contemplating such a loss of true human wealth we should remember that few men express their appreciation for God-given gifts as earnestly as did Phil. The witness of his thanks is found in his devotion to family and community. Those fortunate to have been mentored by Dr. Philip Stansly will be sobered by the loss and reinforced in their passion and commitment to the mission they shared with Phil - making ours a better world.
Those of us who knew Phil and are so moved by his passing can only imagine the emotions of his family. Our thoughts, prayers and sympathies go out to Silvia and the children.
