Search Warrant Issued For Clewiston City Hall - Business Practices Under Investigation

CLEWISTON, FL. -- In the later part of August, the Hendry County Sheriffs Office received several tips concerning business practices within Clewiston City Hall. These concerns were assigned to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office Special investigations division for inquiry.

This inquiry led detectives to open up an investigation into these practices. Detectives have been working closely With the State Attorney’s Office over the last four or five weeks.

The investigation lead to subpoenas being issued to City Hall, requesting specific documentation to further the investigation. Review of the items obtained during this primarily investigation developed probable cause to draft and execute a search warrant on the Clewiston City Hall to further obtain more information to support the investigation.

The investigation is an active and ongoing investigation of a sensitive nature.
