Former Glades Sheriff Roy Lundy Dies At 84

Glades Sheriff Lundy - 25 Years Of Service

MOORE HAVEN, FL. -- Roy D. Lundy, age 84, of Moore Haven passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at his home in Moore Haven.

Lundy was the Sheriff of Glades County, Florida from 1956 to 1981. Lundy served the longest time in office of any Sheriff in Glades county.

He was born March 23, 1927 in Moore Haven, FL., the son of the late Paul Edger and the late Amy (Surgnier) Lundy.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Moore Haven and a 50 plus year member of the Moore Haven Lodge 61 F. & A.M.

Lundy is survived by his two sons: Roy D. Lundy, Jr. (Sandra) of Moore Haven, FL, Jack E. Lundy (Janice) of Moore Haven, FL; grandchildren: Scott Lundy (Nicole), Brad Lundy (Leslie), Jaclyne Pollard (Dwayne); great-grandchildren; Garrett Lundy, Katelyn Lundy, Carolanne Lundy and Aubrey Pollard.

He was preceded in death by his wife Irene Scott Lundy in 1989 and two grandchildren: Samuel David Lundy and Amy Elizabeth Lundy.

The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30 at First United Methodist Church Of Moore Haven, 300 Avenue L. S.W., Moore Haven, FL. Rev. Charlie Watts will be officiating. Interment will be in Ortona Cemetery, Moore Haven.

Calling hours will be Thursday, December 29 from 6:00-08:00 p.m. at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, 438 E. Sugarland Hwy., Clewiston, FL.
