Free Tai Chi Begins September 29

LABELLE, FL. -- The Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida will offer 24 free classes on Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance at Hope Connections at 475 East Cowboy Way, LaBelle, FL 33935, starting September 29, 2016.

Participants must be 60 years or older and the classes are free. For more information or to register for the class, contact the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida helpline at 1-866- 413-5337.

The evidence based 24 session course endorsed by the Center For Disease Control And Prevention and Florida Health Department helps older adults improve their balance and reduce the risk of falling. 

Participants will feel stronger, have better balance, greater flexibility and feel more confident after completing this evidenced-based Tai Chi program.

Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance was developed by Fuzhong Li, Ph.D of the Oregon Research Institute and is offered free of charge through a grant for Disease Prevention & Health Promotion under the 2016 Older Americans Act Title IIID



The 12-week course, taught by certified instructor Don Browne, consists of one-hour classes held twice weekly and will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 am beginning Thursday,Sept. 29 and ending Dec. 22. To gain the benefits of this course, participants must plan on attending all 24 sessions.
