Ariel Powell Casuso Dies 3 Days After Crash

IMMOKALEE, FL. -- On July 17, at 3:15 p.m. Chyna Palma, 16 of Naples traveled south on State Road 29 near 14th Street in Immokalee at a high rate of speed. Deputies of the Collier County Sheriff's Office were in pursuit of the 2018 Mercedes as the driver lost control. The car exited the road and traveled south into a grass shoulder, the front struck a small wooden sign and continued to travel south.

It struck two barrier bollards and a fire hydrant. After collision, it overturned once.

Passenger Ariel Powell CaSuso, 16 of LaBelle was ejected and the car came to final rest faced southwest on the grass shoulder of southbound State Road 29.

Caruso landed nearby the car on the grass shoulder. She was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital at the time of the accident.

The driver had minor injuries and was charged at the time with No Drivers License, Reckless Driving. Neither person was wearing a seat belt according to the FHP.

UPDATE: On 7/20/18 the passenger Ariel Powell Casuso was pronounced deceased.
