LABELLE, FL. -- A dump truck driven by Jaime Deras Oliveros, 48 of LaBelle was traveling east on Evans Road approaching the intersection of Fussell Grade Road at 4:02 p.m Sunday.
Pedestrian Noah Alvarado, 12 of LaBelle was riding a kneeboard in the westbound lane of Evans Road and entered the eastbound lane, into the path of the oncoming truck. Oliveros attempted to veer the truck to the right but struck the child.
Post collision, the truck traveled off the roadway striking a ditch and a barbed wire fence.
Noah Alvarado was pronounced deceased on scene. The crash remains under investigation.
