LABELLE, FL. -- Nelson Bauza Martinez, 56 of LaBelle was traveling east Saturday night at 7:10 p.m. on County Road 78 in Hendry county, west of LaBelle, approaching Bee Branch Lakes Drive as his 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 continued east past Bee Branch Lakes Drive and ran off the roadway to the right, where it collided with two mailboxes.
The truck continued to travel through the grass shoulder and became airborne due to a raised driveway. The front right of the truck collided with a standing tree. The front left then collided with a Florida Power and Light electrical pole.
Aida Luz Hernandez, 64 of LaBelle, a passenger, had serious injuries and was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital. Martinez had minor injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts.
The vehicle came to final rest in the grass shoulder against the electrical pole.
