He was the Owner of Contreras Restaurant in LaBelle since 1981, and loved his customers. He was Catholic, and loved family BBQ's, fishing, and going to the casino.
Survivors include his wife: Adelina (Rodriguez) Contreras three daughters: Christina Contreras(Lee) Banda, Rosali Contreras(Miguel) Pequeno and Sonya Contreras, three brothers: Anastacio Contreras, Adan Contreras and Abel Contreras, five sisters: Concepcion (Concha) Gutierrez, Ester Garza, Lola Aurora Nunez, Alicia Salinas and Guadalupe Martinez grandchildren: Monica Banda; Daniel Banda; Karina Pequeno;, Audrina Pequeno; Angelina Contreras; Crystal Pequeno; great grandchild: Leonel Briceno
He was predeceased by a brother Arnulfo Contreras.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 6 PM at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, LaBelle, FL.
Gene D Whidden, age 82, of LaBelle, passed away August 7, 2020 in LaBelle. He was born Nov. 24, 1937 in Okeechobee, FL, to the late Van Dillon and Mervine (Jarvis) Whidden.
He worked as a Citrus Caretaker.
Survivors include his wife: Stella (Konecsny) Whidden one son: Glenn Whidden three daughters: Lori Carter, Cheryl Nixon and Kristi Barton, one brother: Franklin Whidden 10 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild, Memorial Services are Pending. ELEANOR INA CARTER. It is with great sadness that the family of Eleanor "Ina" Carter announces her passing on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at the age of 93. After suffering a stroke, she passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George Lamar Carter. Ina will be lovingly remembered by their children, Judy Frazer (Kenneth), William Arnold and his wife Sandra, Dotty Hinson, Sydney Clyatt and her husband Glenn, Eileen Abreu and her husband Rey, Patricia Arnold and her partner Debbie, and Mark Carter.
Ina will be fondly remembered by her 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Son, Arthur Robert Arnold, Jr., son-in-law Kenneth Frazer and granddaughter, Sandy Flaherty, predeceased her. Ina is remembered as being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Ina was born in Medford, Massachusetts then became a long-time resident of Miami, Florida then Clewiston, Florida.
A private service will be held in Miami, Florida after the COVID pandemic is resolved. Those who wish to make donations and in lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local animal shelter in her memory. Arrangements by Akin-Davis Funeral Home - Clewiston.
