CLEWISTON, FL. -- Investigation is pending on a crash one mile east of Airglades Boulevard on U.S. 27 involving a 2009 Daix motor scooter and an unidentified 2nd motorist Tuesday, April 19th at 10 p.m.

A vehicle and the moped were eastbound on US 27 in the outside lane.   The moped was ahead of the vehicle and the driver failed to decelerate.   The front struck the rear of the moped in the outside lane.

Collision impact caused Ingrid M. Sievert of West Palm Beach to be ejected from the moped.   The driver failed to stop and continued eastbound on US 27.  The moped came to final rest on the eastbound  paved apron of the roadway facing east.   Sievert came to rest partially in the eastbound lane and partially on the south paved apron, laying in a prone position.

The other driver never returned to the scene of the crash.   Sievert was transported by MEDFLIGHT to Hendry Regional Medical Center in Clewiston with minor injuries.

If not for you we wouldn't know what the heck happens here in Clewiston. Keep up the good work.

  2. A careless act preceded by panic, it seems. In the end, when you're handling a vehicle that's larger than the vehicle in front of you, it would be wise to stay cautious. From the looks of things, this one is more a case of irresponsible action than malice...
