Hendry-Glades Obituaries

Kenneth John Downing was born on November 30th 1942 in Guatemala City and died on October 23rd 2012 at the age of 69 near his summer home in Bryson City. Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. 

Downing was the owner with his wife and son of LaBelle, Florida's hardware store for many years. He lived for many years in Port LaBelle's Laurel Oaks community.

Kenneth Downing is survived by his wife of fifty years Mary Jo Downing and children Liza Downing Salazar and husband Michael Salazar, Cheryl Downing, Carol Ann Downing Mayo and husband Dennis Mayo, and Mark Downing. His grandchildren are Jessica, Phillip, Melissa, and Vanessa Salazar; Christian and Alex Galvez; Patrick and Danielle Mayo. He also leaves behind his loving sister Frances Dobs. Ken was a devoted pet owner and leaves behind his dogs Mak, Faye & Hope.

A mass to celebrate the life of Kenneth Downing will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 316 Main Street, Bryson City, North Carolina on November 3, 2012 at 11:00am and a memorial service in Plant City at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4450 C.R. 579, Seffner, Florida on November 10, 2012 at 11:00 am.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations to be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America www.alzfdn.org or the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org in Memory of Kenneth Downing.
Charles Richard Martinez, age 50, of Clewiston, passed away suddenly in his home on Sunday, October 28, 2012.

Ricky is survived by his children, son John Carlos and daughter Chiniah Rose, his step-mother Gayle Martinez, two sisters, Christy Potter (John) of West Palm Beach and Debbie Williams of Colorado Springs and three step-sisters Belinda (Rick) Smith of Clewiston, Rebecca Langford of Umatilla and Sarah Thompson of Clewiston. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Rosemary (Burt) Martinez and Charles Martinez. Ricky also left many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles to mourn along with numerous friends.

A lifelong resident of Clewiston, Ricky enjoyed many passions in his life including his work on the Lake and with boats, diving, all things of nature - his pets, his plants - and most importantly the people in his life who loved him dearly for his enormous heart and acceptance of everyone.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:00 am at 132 Taft Blvd., Clewiston, FL, behind the home of Ricky Martinez. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Cross Training Ministries, P.O. Box 2139, Clewiston, FL 33440.
