'Wild Mama' Pilot Team Finishes Cross-America Flight

Terry Carbonell And Ellen Herr Complete Journey Across America

LABELLE, FL. -- 52 all-women general aviation pilot teams planned to fly small general aviation aircraft from California to Pennsylvania this week, staging the annual Air Race Classic race across America, including local pilots Terry Carbonell and Ellen Herr.

Carbonell and Herr finished 7th in the air race this year.

Carbonell, a veteran air racer, flew her Cessna 182 Skylane RG with co-pilot Herr from Concord, California on Monday and landed in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on Wednesday afternoon. The 2,691 statute mile race had seven aircraft dropping out by Wednesday.

Carbonell is a veteran air race participant and bases her four-seat retractable gear plane at LaBelle Municipal Airport. Her "Team Wild Mama" air racing is sponsored in part by Vernon Conley's Air Service aircraft maintenance facility at the LaBelle airport.

Team Wild Mama is expected back in LaBelle Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at LaBelle's airport after attending the race banquet and awards ceremonies Saturday night in Pennsylvania. Come out and say hello Sunday!

Where is Terry flying now (or has landed her plane if not flying)? Map tracker
