SUSPECT IN OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IDENTIFIED
LABELLE, FL. -- During the evening hours of Saturday, August 29, 2026 at approximately 5:00pm, Hendry County Sheriffs Office received a call reporting a reckless driver. Deputies were able to locate the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the area of South State Road 29 and Case Road.
A short time into the stop, shots were exchanged between the driver of the vehicle and deputies.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 34 year old Edward Young, Jr., of Lehigh Acres, Florida. Young was transported for medical treatment, and later succumbed to his injuries.
At this time, the circumstances surrounding this shooting are still under investigation.
