The Hendry Property Appraiser's Office under Kristina Kulpa has sent out the county's property assessments this week.
Although many vacant land parcels show lowered values since last year's property assessments, it appears many homes actually have shown increases in value by Kulpa's office. The "increase" in assessed value and increases in taxes by many governmental taxing units negates the savings from the new $50,000 homestead value for many homeowners, which was supposeed to give homeowners about $250 in savings.
Kupla is facing two other candidates for her job as county property appraiser in this year's election.
