Hendry's OK Slough State Forest Day

Free Activities For The Family

LABELLE, FL. -- Okaloacoochee Slough State Forest in Hendry county celebrates Forest Awareness Month on Saturday, October 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities scheduled for both adults and kids:

• Learn about wildland firefighting and see some of the equipment used
• See some of the invasive exotic plants on the forest
• Learn about some of the endangered plants found on the forest.
• Geocaching course
• Tree drawing
• CFA station
• Old time forestry equipment
• Guided tours of the forest by van

OK Slough State Forest Field Office, 6265 CR 832 Felda, FL 863-612-0776. Directions from Fort Myers take 80 east through Labelle to SR 29, go south to CR 832, turn east, will be approximately 4 miles down on the south side of the road, look for the fire tower, or take 82 east to SR 29, go north to CR 832.
