LaBelle, FL – United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Okeechobee will be hosting its annual 2019-2020 Campaign Kick Off for Hendry & Glades County on October 15, 2019. The event will be held at Hope Connections: 475 East Cowboy Way; LaBelle, FL 33935. Networking and light breakfast items will be available at 8:30 a.m. The program will start at 9:00 a.m.

If you are interested in attending, please email Lisa Sands at: Lisa@UnitedWayLee.org. Space is limited, so please RSVP before October 11, 2019.

The kick off event is the start of United Way’s annual fundraising effort. United Way team members, partner agencies, and volunteers will unite to raise awareness and excitement in the community through the testimonials of donors, advocates, and recipients. Pacesetter results will be announced at this time. United Way Pacesetters are companies that run their campaigns early in order to set the pace for the rest of the community. The event also allows attendees to network with many United Way supporters.

United Way Campaign Co-Chairs: Mr. Tommy Perry, President of Johnson-Prewitt & Associates and Mr. Scott Bass, Glades County Schools Superintendent will lead the campaign with a goal of $340,120. This is a 1.6% increase over last year’s goal.

The theme of this year’s campaign is “One Way, United Way.” In regard to co-chairing this year’s campaign, “I am excited to partner with Mr. Tommy Perry to lead the Campaign for United Way in Hendry and Glades Counties this year! The funds raised in our area are so important to the agencies that support our School District”, says Mr. Scott Bass, Glades County Schools Superintendent and Hendry/Glades Campaign Co-Chair. “Agencies like the YMCA, which provide After School Programs and Healthy Families for Parenting Support Groups. Our United Way truly benefits the programs right here in our community”. Additionally, Mr. Tommy Perry, President, Johnson-Prewitt & Associates and Hendry/Glades Campaign Co-Chair says, “United Way is a valuable partner in our community. I am looking forward to working with Mr. Scott Bass to raise much-needed funds for our United Way Partner Agencies. We would like to encourage everyone in the two county area to participate in the Campaign through donations and volunteerism.”

All money raised in the United Way campaign stays in the local community to help support the local human service network. United Way Partner Agencies and initiatives include: The Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center, Abuse Counseling & Treatment, Harry Chapin Food Bank, Healthy Families, and United Way 211, to mention a few. These agencies serve a diverse range of needs in our community such as nurturing children and youth, strengthening families, and meeting critical needs like helping the elderly and disabled live independently, and empowering communities by bringing health and human services to neighborhoods.

In addition to raising funds for human service organizations in our community, the United Way promotes partnerships and collaborations among agencies and initiatives, helping them to work together focusing on issues and solutions that continue to improve lives.
