He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a Contractor.
His family would like to express gratitude for everyone that worked with him throughout his career.
Surviving are sons: David and his son Mason, and Dennis; daughters: Debbie Miller, and Donna McCall; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren
The family will receive friends on Wednesday March 24, 2021 from 5 to 7 PM at the Akin-Davis Funeral Home 438 E. Sugarland Hwy. Clewiston.
Funeral Service will be on Thursday March 25th with viewing from 9 to 10 AM and Service at 10 AM at the Evangel Assembly of God Church 350 S. Berner Road Clewiston with Sr. Pastor Mark Witt officiating.
Interment will be at Ridgelawn Cemetery Arrangements by Akin-Davis Funeral Home.
Jonas Wilfred Pelham, age 90, of Moore Haven, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2021.
He was born November 17, 1930, in Washington County, Florida to the late James Arthur and the late Evelyn Lavada (Varnum) Pelham.
His family moved to Clewiston in May 1944. He was a graduate of Clewiston High School, Class of 1949.
Initially, he worked as a butcher at the B&B Grocery, before accepting a position at U.S. Sugar, where he remained employed for 44 years.
As a young man, he served his community as an auxiliary officer for the Clewiston Police Department and was a volunteer firefighter for the Clewiston Fire Department. Later, he continued his community service as an auxiliary officer for the Florida Highway Patrol.
Wilfred was known for his ready smile, quiet manner and unconditional love for his family. He enjoyed retirement in the Blue Ridge mountains, Sebring and Orlando before settling in Moore Haven.
Married 66 years, he leaves behind his beloved wife, Betty; his daughter Teresa and her husband Steve Rudd; his daughter Kristal and her husband Keith Hollis; his granddaughter, Tiffany and her husband Jeff Patterson; his great-grandchildren, Rylie and Blake; his surviving siblings, Henry and wife Linda, Joyce and husband Hueland, Gloria and husband Warren, Roy Pelham; and a multitude of nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Wilfred was preceded in death by his siblings; Colie Pelham, Millard Pelham, Lucille Pelham, WC “Bill” Pelham, Victoria “Vickie” Lang, James “Jay” Pelham, Mildred “Bitty” Schills, Charles “Curt” Pelham, his brother-in-law George “Buck” Clark, brother-in-law Harold Lang, sister-in-law Christine Pelham, sister-in-law Donna Pelham, and his precious granddaughter, Holly.
Billy Joe Sammons, age 76, of Clewiston, passed away March 13, 2021 in Clewiston. He was born Aug. 12, 1944 in Grayson, KY, to the late Estill and Opal (Stallard) Sammons.
