Tommie Lee Thicklin Arrested In Harlem Shooting

DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE RESULTS IN GUNFIRE – TWO INJURED

CLEWISTON, FL -- On Monday March 15, 2021 a Domestic argument turned violent leaving two hospitalized and one in the Hendry County Jail facing several felony charges.

In the early afternoon hours, 45 year old, Tommie Lee Thicklin was engaged in an argument with his two adult brothers near the 900 block of the Harlem Gardens community, over twenty dollars. The argument ceased and the three parties separated.

A short time later, one of the victim brothers started to receive text messages from Tommie Lee Thicklin, who accused the two brothers of talking about him behind his back.

At approximately 10:33 pm, the two brothers were talking with each other in the 900 block of the Harlem Gardens community when they observed Tommie Lee Thicklin walking over to them and started to yell at them about talking behind his back. 

Tommie Lee Thicklin brandished a firearm and pointed it at one of the two brothers. The second brother pushed the gun away. Thicklin fired two shots into the air and told the two brothers he would shoot them. 

One of the brother’s sought shelter in a nearby apartment while the other brother walked behind a vehicle parked close by. Thicklin followed his brother around the car and began to fire several shots in the direction of his brother. One round struck his brother in the mouth and a second round went through a rear window to a vehicle where a sixteen year old girl was sitting. The young female was struck in the back of the head. 

Both victims were treated at the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Detectives with the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and General Crimes Unit, along with Crime Scene, responded to the area and conducted an investigation. Road Patrol Deputies apprehended Thicklin without incident in the 1100 block of Alabama Avenue.

Tommie Lee Thicklin was taken into custody and charged with the Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Child Abuse, Shooting a Deadly Missile into an Occupied Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Using a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Concealed Firearm, and Destroying Evidence. 

 Thicklin is currently being held on a $750,000.00 bond.
