Florida Lottery: Worst Bet For Gamblers

LABELLE, FL. -- According to a tally by the St. Petersburg Times this week. Florida Lottery players have the worst odds of all Florida's legal gambling games, while the state and the gambling room owners have 100% odds of winning.

Floridians bet $4.2 billion on lottery games in the last year, but pay-outs only amounted to $2.1 billion, only 50% of the amounts bet. The state of Florida, however had a sure thing, winning $2.1 billion.

Slot machines are the way to go if you want to lose the minimum possible. $3 billion was bet at the three Miami and Broward county parimutuel tracks. Pay-outs were $2.767 billion to the gamblers, or 91.5% of the amounts bet. The state got their cut totalling $123 million. The payouts on card rooms at the parimutuels were not available, but the house take was $91 million from $1 billion bet. The state got $9.1 million.

Horse and dog racing brings betters about 77% of the amounts bet, while the state collects it's sure thing of $22.4 million from the tracks.
