CLEWISTON, FL. -- Marie Rucelin, 4 of Immokalee and a 7-year old child survived a crash into a tree Sunday morning in rural Hendry county with only minor injuries.
Her 1998 Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound on County Road 846 at 7:52 a.m. when Rucelin failed to negotiate a curve, and the SUV then began to traveling partially in the eastbound lane and partially on the south grassy shoulder.
Rucelin over corrected and the vehicle reentered the roadway. She then lost control as the front of the Ford began to yaw to the left, then crossed the centerline of the roadway and continued in a northeasterly direction onto the westbound grassy shoulder.
The front of the vehicle struck a tree. Collision impact caused it to be propelled back in a counterclockwise direction. Post collision, it came to final rest overturned onto it's left side.
Rucelin and 7-year old Wisfransley Sterling were transported by EMS to Hendry Regional Medical Center in Clewiston with minor injuries. The driver was charged with careless driving by the FHP.
