Hendry County Tropical Storm Update

LABELLE, FL. -- Squalls with Tropical Storm gusts are starting to push in from the Atlantic Coast and will continue through the night and into Friday morning. The "window of concern" is from 8:00pm tonight until 8:00am Friday.

If you have to venture outside, please be aware of flying debris. Expect power outages. Make sure your flashlights have batteries and you have safe cooking alternatives. There will potential rain related flooding in low-lying and flood prone areas. 

Please be aware of displaced wildlife and insects in flooded areas. Do not drive through flooded streets. If traffic lights are out, use extreme caution if you have to be out on the roads.

Please use generator safety guidelines. Operate in well ventilated areas only. All county emergency services are fully staffed and prepared. The shelters have security and there will be increased patrols through the night.

The Fort Denaud bridge will be locked down and closed to MARINE traffic once winds reach a sustained 45 mph. Ambulances also will not be dispatched with sustained high winds.

Lock S77 (Moore Haven) is closed and Lock S78 (Ortona) will close at 10:00 pm tonight on the Caloosahatchee River.
