She was born July 6, 1927 in Punxsutawney, PA, to Alfred Earl and Mary Rita (Grescock) Edmondson. She married Charlie Dzan, he preceded her in death, she later married Sherwin Ruckman, and he also preceded her in death.
She worked for 35 years as a nurse. Mercedes was a long time resident of Country Village in Port Labelle. Mercedes was a woman who prayed for others often, she was loving, kind and generous and had a great personality. She never met a stranger, she enjoyed talking to any and every one she met. She enjoyed to ski, Ice skate, roller skate and dance. She was a member of Women's Auxiliary for VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She always had a smile on her face and was always happy.
Mercedes leaves behind her three daughters; Pamela Mirowitz, Paula Scott, and Timothea Dzan, loving and constant companion for many years; Bob "Helicopter Bob" Landis, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild and many close family friends.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in Fort Denaud Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Akin-Davis Funeral Home – Labelle.
