Hit And Run Driver Kills Motorcyclist On I-75

NAPLES, FL. -- Motorcyclist Robert Colantonio, 49 of Naples was fatally injured by a hit and run driver on I-75 Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

An unidentified driver and Colantonio were both traveling south on I75 (SR 93) southbound at the 116 MM. The hit and run driver was traveling in the inside lane (left) , and Colantonio's 2001 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle was traveling in the outside lane (right).

The unknown driver changed from the inside lane to the right lane behind the motorcycle at a faster
rate of speed and the driver failed to reduce speed to avoid a collision and struck the rear portion of the cycle with its front portion which continued south and came to final rest on the southbound paved shoulder of I75.

The unknown driver fled the crash before authorities arrived. A witness described the hit and run vehicle as a four door silver, gold or dark color sedan with major front end damage and clear windows driven by a white male.
