LABELLE, FL. -- The LaBelle Airport has received $1,246,547 in funding from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to reconstruct and pave Rodeo Drive from State Road 29 to LaBelle Airport. The current dirt road passes by the LaBelle, Animal Control office and ends at private airplane hangars on the airport.
The project will also include new drainage infrastructure, construction of a 8-inch potable water main, and a new gated entrance to serve future aviation development on the west side of LaBelle Airport.
The design firm was AECOM and the contractor is Owen-Ames-Kimball Company (OAK). AECOM will also be providing the required Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) services for the project.
The project commenced on August 4, 2019 and the contract time frame for construction is 150 days. The anticipated completion date for this project is January 1, 2020. The project is funded 100% by FDOT.
