LaBelle, Fla. – Hendry County Emergency Management (EM) continues to closely monitor Hurricane Dorian.
EM is strongly encouraging voluntarily evacuations for Hendry County residents who live in low-lying, flood prone areas as well as residents who live in RV’s or mobile homes.
Residents are encouraged to evacuate tens of miles away from their current location to secure homes of family member or friends no later than Saturday evening.
Hendry County is opening primary general population shelters beginning at 6pm Sunday 1, 2019 at the following locations:
Labelle Middle School, 8000 E Cowboy Way, LaBelle, FL 33935
Clewiston High School, 1501 Francisco St, Clewiston, FL 33440
Pioneer Community Center, 910 Panama Ave, Clewiston, FL 33440
Residents who are evacuating are asked to bring a 3 day supply of food and water for themselves and each person sheltering with them.
These 3 shelters are pet friendly. Residents who bring their pet are asked to also bring a crate along with a 3 day supply of food for their pet.
The special needs shelter is open as of 1pm on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the following location:
· West Glades School, 2586 County Road 731 LaBelle, FL 33935
All Hendry County residents are asked to secure any loose items on their property that could become flying debris or block drainage pipes.
All residents should have a 7 day supply of water and food.
Residents with questions or concerns are asked to call the United Way hotline at 2-1-1.
