The Increasing Odds Of COVID Infection In Rural Hendry County, Florida

  

LABELLE, FL. -- COVID-19 cases have not gone away in rural Hendry County, Florida as they have not gone away anywhere, with increasing odds of contracting it here and everywhere in the state. 

Since March 1st there have been 2,377 positive cases identified in the county's population of 42,380 or about 6% of the population. 315 were pediatric cases.

More than 372 people tested positive were admitted to the emergency room, and 44 have died.

In the Hendry County School District, 194 students and 18 staff are under quarantine orders. Four LaBelle High School football games have been canceled so far.

The largest amount of students quarantined are from Eastside Elementary School at 57. Clewiston High has 43 students under quarantine, and LaBelle Middle School with 28, and Clewiston Elementary has 26 quarantined.
